Some hobbies can be very exciting but there may be dangers involved. It is always a good idea to be completely prepared for anything that can go wrong. Whether it is the proper equipment or simply the knowledge of what to do in an emergency these things can make the difference between life and death. This is true of scuba diving. As fun and enlightening as this activity can be it does have dangers associated.
One of the things that cause the most danger is running out of oxygen. This can happen for many reasons. Maybe you did not plan on using as much oxygen as you did or you have a faulty air tank. Any of these things can cause you serious problems if you run out of oxygen and are far from the surface of the water. A very important piece of equipment that can save you from this danger is called a pony bottle. A pony bottle or pony cylinder is an additional source of air supply that contains its own regulator. It is only a few liters of air but it is very important that the diver be equipped with this. In case of the above-mentioned mishaps this will allow the diver to easily switch air supplies and begin an emergency ascent.
Pony bottles are a diver’s best friend. Running out of air while being hundreds of feet below the surface of the water can be overwhelming and cause a diver to panic. Having a pony bottle gives the diver the peace of mind they need to be able to behave calmly in an emergency.
