Going Diving? Record It.

All divers should use a divers log to keep records of their dives. Did you know that you can now put your log on the internet to share? Here is the information you would put in a dive log. You would start with the header, which is the date and location of your dive. Then you move to the profile, logging in what the depth of the dive was and the length you stayed at said depth.

Don’t forget to put in the equipment you wore or used for this dive, it comes after the profile. What about conditions? The weather under and above the water should be put into your log next. There is also a space in the log book to put down any information or observations about the dive. Things are official after verification, so grab you dive buddy to sign your log.

In this date and time divers can use dive logs on their computer or laptop. Dive log technologies such as “Sharkpoint” used by “Dreamdives” lets you put all of you log information on the internet with pictures to share. So chose your dive partner and check some coral reef somewhere. Take lots of pictures and check lots of fish. Then grab the laptop and log it all. Don’t forget a single detail. This way if you log everything you can come back to check out the site again. By checking other logs, you’ll know what areas to avoid on your next dive. Happy diving.
